Acu-Point Pen: simulated acupuncture to go

acupoint_w.jpg

Let's admit it: the big thing holding back acupuncture from really catching on is that it's not portable enough. Who hasn't had a craving for some skin-penetrating Chinese medicine while trapped at a red light on the way to work? The next time you feel some achiness while on the go, turn to your portable healer, the Acu-Point Pen. It doesn't sound at all fishy: first, the Pen will diagnose what's ailing you simply by reading your palm. Once you've identified your problem areas, just pass the pen over them to send a stimulus signal to the nerves and muscles as well as "promoting" better blood circulation (for some reason, I'm picturing a the Acu-Point distributing flyers to red blood cells encouraging them to "go with the flow"). From the description, it sounds like it doesn't prick you, so it might be more accurate to call it an acupressure simulator, but what do we know? At any rate, besides possibly leading to a halfway decent Jackass episode, the Acu-Point Pen could be a handy thing if you suffer from chronic aches and pains, and you're not into that whole Advil thing. And taking a page from the "you get what you pay for" manual, the hundred bucks it costs has to stick somewhere.
