Scientists have developed a robotic cockroach that can influence the behavior of groups of real cockroaches. The tiny roachbots would infiltrate groups of the disgusting bugs, gain their trust, then lead them out of the shadows and into the light, where a human would presumably slap them with a rolled up magazine while emitting a high-pitched squeal. As you can see from the picture, the robots don't look exactly like roaches, but they do smell and behave the same, which is apparently enough to fool the Mr. Magoos of the insect world. Scientists are hoping to develop robotic versions of other social, stupid animals such as sheep and chickens in order to influence their behavior as well. First borgified butterflies and now robot cockroaches — I wonder who would win in a cyberbug death match?
