My Day umbrella brings sunshine to a rainy day

myday3_w.jpg

There's no way to change the weather, but the next time it rains, your My Day umbrella will let you look up and see sunshine. Confused? My Day's fabric is made from ePaper, so the umbrella can display any of six different images on its underside, and it'll add to the effect by playing some corresponding ambient music. With controls and a small computer on the handle, you can simply twist the knob and change the image from a sunny day to a forest ceiling. Upgrade patches for My Day would include new images and sounds, although there's no mention of being able to add your own. Adding custom images is a potential Pandora's box — you'll never forget the first time you see someone with an R-rated umbrella walking down the street. Designed by Hsiao Yong-li, My Day is just a concept right now, but something similar may be produced in the future.

There is a saying: A smart person carries an umbrella even when it does not rain. If it is made of e-paper, it is not a far stretch of the imagination to see them adding some sort of connectivity so that you could conceivably use it as a newspaper, or an ebook, and when it rains one simply unfurls it and protects one. It could be the new iPod
Actually, you do raise a fair point, however i believe it not to bee that big a problem. Those who do decide to display R rated material will be arrested same as those who decide to go streaking or engage in what is considered inappropriate behavior. But still, think of the marketing possibilities of these things. Think of themed advertising.
