Because nothing solves a problem like a lawsuit, the amazingly litigious RIAA has sued XM Radio for their Inno portable player (shown) that allows users to record songs they hear and save them for later. Seeking a completely insane $150,000 per song downloaded the RIAA is apparently looking for XM to give them a novemvigintillion dollars (that's a 10 with 90 zeros after it to you paupers out there) to make up for the grievous offence of allowing the modern equivalent of taping radio broadcasts. XM competitor Sirius has similar players on the market, but has paid licensing fees to the RIAA in advance to keep their lawyers/thugs away from their pocketbooks. If the RIAA gets their way, other than being much, much richer, they'll also keep all products such as the Inno and the Samsung Helix that allow people to record satellite radio off the market, stifling innovation and keeping features people want out of the hands of consumers. Gee whiz, thanks RIAA!
