Yahoo has bought Meedio, a company that makes products that allow you to record TV programs directly to your computer. Yahoo has previously let known its intentions to delve into the DVR market, with recent, and apparently false, rumors of buying TiVo. Look for Yahoo to push its way into the increasingly hot Media Center PC arena with acquisitions such as this, with software that allows you to not only record TV to your computer but view and use all of your PC media in the living room.… Paint-on lasers may be used to make smaller microchips, say researchers at the University of Toronto who developed them. The lasers can suspend nanometer-sized semiconductor particles in a solvent like the particles in paint, allowing more circuits to be placed in a tiny area than would normally be physically possible.… Using a cell phone while driving — even with a hands-free device — may soon be illegal, if lawmakers get their way. Studies have shown that when people use their cell phones on the road their chances of an accident go up exponentially. Some states already have laws in place that only allow hands-free phone use while driving, but many others have bills written that would outlaw phone use entirely. — Adam Frucci
