Sony's PSP gets upgrade

psp-back_w.jpg

The long-awaited firmware update for the PlayStation Portable has finally arrived. The 2.7 upgrade, which can be wirelessly downloaded to the handheld game console using a Wi-Fi connection or downloaded from playstation.com to a PC and transferred to the unit through a USB cable, offers several new enhancements that make it easier to view and listen to your own videos and music. The upgrade includes support for Macromedia Flash Player 6, so no more need to hack the device to play Flash content. Also in the package is the ability to save RSS channels directly to Memory Stick Duo, which means PSP owners can now listen to their favorite podcasts on the go. Considering that the UMD format for movies isn't exactly taking off, the upgrade will at least ensure you'll have something to watch or listen to on the PSP!
