You may need a degree in engineering to build one, but you only need an appreciation for retro chic to enjoy the look of Ryan Brooks' Nixie Clock. The clock uses nixie tubes (a variant of a neon lamp that looks similar to a vacuum tube) to show the time — four East German tubes for the hours and minutes and two Russian ones for the seconds. Doesn't anyone buy American anymore?
