Pretty much everything we buy has a barcode on it, but the usefulness of those codes generally ends after you leave the store checkout. Not so if you have the IntelliScanner Kitchen Companion, a portable barcode scanner that aims to make writing out shopping lists a thing of the past. Whenever you run low on something — say, Chunky Monkey B&J — just scan the barcode with the Companion (it stores up to 500 codes) before tossing the container. Then, when it's shopping day, you upload the codes to your PC, and IntelliScanner software puts together your shopping list for printing. If this whole "paper" thing seems too low-tech, you can transfer the list to your iPod or Bluetooth-enabled cell phone or PDA.
