Dell debuted two new laptops on Tuesday, both including dual-core processors. But don't be fooled by the announcement the Inspiron e1505 (shown), aimed at home-entertainment hounds, and the Inspiron 6400, targeted at home-office and small-business users, are the same aside from their intended audience. Equipped with Windows XP Media Center Edition, 15.4-inch widescreen displays, up to 2 GB of memory each, and CD-RW/DVD drives, the computers' outstanding feature is the new Intel Core Duo processor, unveiled in January and the centerpiece of Apple's new machines, which should help run demanding applications more efficiently. They're both smaller (6 pounds versus 7 pounds) and cheaper ($979 compared to $1,050) than Dell's first laptop to feature the dual-core processor, the e1705. But for the extra weight and cash, the e1705 has a 17-inch display. The new Dells are available now.
